CARABAO ENGLISH

CARABAO ENGLISH - bad english of Pinoys; barok; Philippines' second language
I’ve always been proud that Pinoys are well capable of communicating in english at any given situation. According to surveys, Pinoys are among the asians who can speak english fluently and clearly, that is why call centers are sprouting like mushrooms everywhere in the urban and business tycoons invest in our country. But being in a 3rd world country, (trying not to sound so pessimistic) not all Pinoys could speak fluent english (think of the jeepney drivers, vendors, police, etc.). Lack of education maybe one of the cause. (knocks on the head of the president).
But again, some make money out of their funny english. But come to think of it, media is a big influence to people. If a kid watches Jimmy Santos talking in his popular carabao english, that kid may have the chance to talk funny english in school, too.
I think we must improve more our english communicating skills for it will benefit not only us as a person but also the country's potential in local and global communication.
So, carabao english, anyone?
